Happy 250th, America!

Happy Fourth of July!
Today is one of my favorite days of the year.
There's something about backyard barbecues, fireworks, family, and waving the American flag that just feels right. But beneath all the fun is a story that's worth remembering.
Exactly 250 years ago, in 1776, 56 men signed one of the boldest documents in history—the Declaration of Independence.
They weren't signing a birthday card. They were putting their names on a document that declared they were breaking away from the most powerful empire at that time.
If they lost, they could have been charged with treason. The punishment? Death.
Benjamin Franklin famously said, "We must all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately."
Thankfully, they stayed together.
The rest is history.
America wasn't built because life was easy. It was built because ordinary people were willing to do hard things for something bigger than themselves. And that's still how progress works today.
Whether you're trying to lose 20 pounds, run your first 5K, build a business, save for retirement, or simply become a healthier version of yourself, the formula hasn't changed much in 250 years.
Freedom comes with responsibility.
No one can do your push-ups.
No one can eat healthy for you.
No one can take your walk, lift your weights, or make the decision to go to bed on time.
You earn those victories one choice at a time.
Here are a few fun Fourth of July facts to impress everyone between burgers and hot dogs:
The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776, but most delegates actually signed it weeks later.
There were originally 13 stars on the American flag—one for each colony.
Three U.S. presidents—John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe—all died on July 4.
Americans eat around 150 million hot dogs on Independence Day.
This year marks America's 250th birthday, also known as the Semiquincentennial. (Good luck working that into casual conversation.)
Your Independence Challenge

Today, celebrate.
Enjoy the barbecue.
Eat the dessert.
Watch the fireworks.
Spend time with people you love.
Then tomorrow...
Get right back to work.
One meal never made anyone healthy.
One workout never transformed a body.
One holiday never ruined your progress.
What matters is what you do most of the time.
That's the real secret.
Quote of the Week
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." — Thomas Paine
